1 Liability of the carrier in international carriage of goods in comparison Abstract The rigorosum thesis deals with the analysis of the legal regulation of the carrier's liability in the international carriage of goods, all that across every key type of international carriage, while these rules are being continuously compared with one another in the text of this rigorosum thesis. The thesis tries to point out the differences in the regulation connected to similar legal institutes within two or more types of carriage. The introducing part of the rigorosum thesis includes the interpretation of basic terms which are commonly found in international carriage, defines its subjects and their possible plurality. Furthermore, the thesis then explains the necessary definition of individual types of carriage, i.e. regimes in which international carriage can be performed. The role of freight forwarders in international trade and carriage is highlighted as well. It is also important not to omit the basic types of contracts that may be entered into by the subjects in international carriage, as well as their mutual comparison within the framework of the national (i.e. Czech) regulation, in terms, among others, of the carrier's liability regime. New Trends in Container Transport

The bachelor thesis is focused on the container transport between the port in Hamburg and container terminals in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to confirm or disprove a hypothesis that the port can play an important part in diversification of Czech exports which was set as an objective in the Export Strategy of the Czech Republic. The first chapter deals with international trade of the Czech Republic with overseas countries. It also describes intermodal type of transport and introduces the port of Hamburg. The second chapter of the thesis is devoted to transport modes which can be used to transport containers from the Czech Republic to the port. There are analysed rail, road and inland waterway transport.
Potential of Continental Transport between People’s Republic of China and the Czech Republic

The European Union (EU) is a key trading partner for the People's Republic of China (PRC). Nearly one third of PRC's production is send to the EU and half of EU exports is directed to the PRC. Such huge trade volumes require an appropriate logistical connection, which is currently dominated by maritime transport. However, since 2007 railway transport has also been available. The aim of this dissertation is to evaluate the position of the railway transport of the PRC European route (with focus on the position of the Czech Republic) with regard to its development, obstacles and potential for the future. Firstly, the paper describes the background and reasons for the establishment of the New Silk Road (One Belt One Road initiative), followed by the trade and economic cooperation between the PRC and the Czech Republic. The practical part deals with individual aspects of railway connection. Neither in terms of trade volumes nor price can railway compete with the maritime solution, nevertheless it slowly but surely acquires its first regular customers.
Rail transport of dangerous goods

This diploma thesis deals with the transport of dangerous goods by rail in order to present and map this issue. Carriage of such cargo poses a threat to persons, animals, property and the environment, therefore it folllows the special rules established in the international agreement RID. The emphasis is placed on its analysis and subsequent application of acquired theoretical knowledge to a practical example of transport of dangerous flammable and toxic substances to the East European country.

Rights of a passenger in railway transport The contract of carriage represents one of the most frequent contracts and its legal basis is based on Art. 2550 of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., Civil Code. The contracting parties of the contract of carriage are a transporter and a passenger. The transporter is contracted to carry the passenger to the final destination and the passenger pays the fare for the service. The passenger is in the position of the consumer and weaker party. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the rights of passengers that are based not only on the provisions of Civil Code, but also on the rules of carriage and on the general conditions of the transporter. This thesis focuses on the description, classification, evaluation and comparison of these rights in Czech and French legal orders. Integral part of the thesis is also the legislation of the European Union and visions to the future, as well as the proposals de lege ferenda. Railway as an alternative to maritime transport between Asia and Europe

The aim of the diploma thesis is the comparison of maritime and rail freight transport between Asia and Europe. The thesis focuses on characteristic of rail transport as an alternative mode of transport and identification of possibilities, how to increase its competitiveness towards to maritime transport. First part of the thesis analyses current situation in maritime and rail transport and focuses on their specifics and future potential. The practical part deals with the change of fictitious company´s logistics system. Maritime and rail transport are compared in terms of risks, costs and shipping time. The last part of thesis deals with possibilities of increasing competitiveness of rail transport in the future.
The Study of Logistics Procurement with a View to Purchase

This thesis focuses on reduction of costs associated with the acquisition of amorphous cores from China, namely reduction of transport costs. The first part introduces the company’s production program. Then the thesis provides theoretical knowledge and analysis of the current state of the ordering process. Based on the analysis I have proposed measures which are reducing transport costs. Conditions needed for the implementation of these proposals are proposed as well. The final part offers quantified benefits of each proposal.
Pricing process in maritime logistics

The master thesis focuses at the pricing process of FCL shipments between Europe and Asia. After the general process description of internal processes there are shown two concrete examples, one under EXW condition and the other one under DAP condition. At the same time the thesis present also the railway connection between Asia and Europe as a certain alternative to the maritime and airfreight transportation under some condition.
Rail transportation as an alternative to maritime transport for freight forwarding company

This thesis addresses various concerns of maritime and rail transport of goods between East Asia and the Czech Republic. Its conceptual part outlines the present situation of sea freight transportation with the emphasis on the container use. Furthermore, the thesis describes the rail infrastructure between East Asia and Europe. In the how-to part, the author describes working procedures of an actual freight forwarding company carrying out an import shipment from China into the Czech Republic, utilising ocean and rail carriers. The last part of the thesis contains a summary of the main differences when employing various types of transport, and of their comparison based on the time of the shipment and on its cost.
Transport of goods by the Trans-Siberian Railway between Asia and the EU

The main objective is to prove the increasing trend of increasing volume of shipments, respectively the number of trains dispatched from Asia to the European Union (Westbound), respectively from the European Union to Asia (Eastbound). The first chapter is devoted to describing the history of the Trans-Siberian Railway. In the second part is the creation of a common CIM / SMGS and organization OSŽD. In the third chapter are described rail corridors from Asia to the EU, respectively from the EU to Asia. A final fourth chapter is practical analysis of rail transport on the basis of documents of companies that use these rail corridors.
